Community Mobilizer (Muslim Aid UK)

Job Context : The role of the Community Mobilizer is, to facilitate the project activities by bringing in potential learners (urban ultra-poor youth) living in different areas within Mirpur/Mohammadpur/Saidpur with a objectives of capacity development and skill enhancement. The Community Mobilizer will be responsible for working at community level to support formal enrolment, access and retention for ultra-poor youths in the relevant training centres. S/he will be primarily field based and will work closely with students, parents and key community members to support vocational learning by disseminating information/awareness raising at the community level. S/he will be tasked to assist in the implementation of the various community led initiatives and plans and help ensure that outputs/deliverables as spelled-out in their plans are delivered on time and contribute to the achievement of outcomes, and prepare reports/feedback for management`s actions and decisions.

Job Responsibilities :

  1. Mobilize the community to encourage beneficiaries’ participation in the training center.
  2. Conduct regular field visits within the project area to raise awareness about Muslim Aid-UK’s Skill Development Program.
  3. Implement promotional and marketing activities within the community to enhance trainee recruitment across various training trades.
  4. Monitor and ensure trainees’ attendance, retention, and successful completion of the program.
  5. Ensure effective selection of trainees across different trades to minimize dropout rates.
  6. Facilitate project execution to meet established targets and work plan schedules.
  7. Develop work plans for assigned tasks and provide timely progress reports.
  8. Coordinate with Instructors, Job Placement Officer, and the In-Charge/Principal to ensure smooth skill development program implementation under MAIT.
  9. Assist in organizing events at the training center, such as job fairs, skills development training, and BTEB (Bangladesh Technical Education Board) Assessments.
  10. Support the Job Placement Officer in securing job placements for graduated trainees.
  11. Inform the In-Charge/Principal promptly about potential delays or community-related concerns pertaining to the project.
  12. Gather data and complete assessment forms following provided guidelines.
  13. Ensure thorough documentation of collected data, both in hard and soft copies.
  14. Share information regarding achievements and challenges with the team.
  15. Exercise caution and adhere to safeguarding policies when selecting beneficiaries.
  16. Maintain and store all records appropriately in alignment with MA’s document management and IT policies.
  17. Choose suitable venues for organizing diverse events such as Community/Parents meetings and sharing sessions.
  18. Ensure timely submission of report according to project requirements.
  19. Develop marketing materials for promoting trainee/students’ mobilization activities.
  20. Arrange co-curricular activities like Cultural programs, Debate competitions, Art competitions, Annual Sports, Student Receptions and Graduation Ceremonies, Wall Magazine Publications, Dramas, etc., to foster a conducive environment for students at the TVET centre.
  21. Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.
  22. Fulfil any additional responsibilities assigned by line managers or higher management.

Employment Status : Full-time, Contractual, Workplace : Work at office, Educational Requirements : Higher Secondary School graduates from reputed educational institutes. Bachelor degree in social science/economics/development studies/ Mass Communication and Journalism or in any other relevant field. Experience Requirements : At least 1 year(s)

Additional Requirements : Age at least 20 years, Proven experience in similar role, Must have expertise in Bengali and Local language. Experience in working with educational institutes/training centers, Basic knowledge in Reporting & Documentation, Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with people at various levels. Good team work skills with the ability to work with different and sometime conflicting agendas. Good organization, coordination and project management skills. Good Report Writing Skill, Proper Time Management Skill, Ability to build rapport with the local community, IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and use any software adopted by Muslim Aid. Be able to visit all project locations in target area, Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and priorities. Ability to work in and with a diverse team. Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative. Ability to motivate others, Willingness to travel at very short notice.
