Best Webcam Apps- Turn Your Phone into WebCam

It’s not difficult to convert your phone into a webcam. There are plenty of good apps for this, and it’s much easier and less expensive than purchasing a physical webcam. The majority of the apps on this list operate in the same manner. You install a client on your computer before installing the app on your phone. When the two are connected, your camera transforms into a webcam. It can be used for a variety of applications ranging from business to video game streaming, but it is primarily a niche technology.

Here are the best webcam apps for your phone to use as a webcam.

Camo is the list’s newest webcam app, and it does exactly what you’d expect a webcam app to do. You can use any of your phone’s cameras, including the front-facing camera and any of the primary cameras. Furthermore, the desktop client integrates with over 40 popular apps, including Zoom, Meet, Teams, OBS, Streamlabs, Skype, Twitch, and many more.

Other features include multiple video resolutions (from 360p to 1080p), no cloud-based services (Camo can’t see what you’re doing), and the ability to use multiple Android devices simultaneously. The app is free for consumers, and enterprise solutions are also available. The only drawback is that it is still in beta at the time of writing, so there may be some bugs that need to be worked out.

DroidCam is one of the oldest webcam apps on the list, and it is still functional today. Like the majority of the other apps on the list, it works by connecting your phone to your PC. It supports 720p and 1080p video, as well as direct connections (via USB) and phone call muting.

There is also the option to view your DroidCam through a web browser, allowing it to function as an IP camera as well. The app is free to use indefinitely and has no usage limits. There’s a $4.99 pro version with some extra features, but it’s not entirely necessary unless you want to support the developer.

Iriun is one of the few webcam apps that support 4K video, though this is dependent on the size of your phone’s screen. It functions in the same way as the others. Install the app on both your phone and computer, then connect the two.

Along with the standard Wi-Fi connection, the app includes USB support. In practice, it worked perfectly for our test devices (Android 11 and Windows 11), and there isn’t much else to say. All we’d like is better documentation to help us troubleshoot common issues.

iVCam is a good webcam app with a few unique and useful features. You don’t have to worry about anything because the app takes care of everything. It does, however, include the ability to record what your phone sees on your PC, as well as support for up to 4K video, configurable frame rate, audio support, and USB connectivity.

You can even use the desktop app to take photos with the camera on your phone. The app has a lower rating than we’d like for an app list, but the majority of the problems are related to getting the app set up and working. Fortunately, it’s free, so you won’t be out any money if it doesn’t work for you.

XSplit Connect

XSplit Connect is a big name in streaming, so it’s nice to see they have a webcam app as well. It appears to work well right out of the box and includes a slew of useful features. It does all of the expected things and then adds little extras like a blur slider that creates a bokeh effect.

If you want to use your phone for streaming, the app supports popular apps such as XSplit Broadcaster, OBS, and Streamlabs. The XSplit Connect component appears to be free, but it is actually part of the larger XSplit Broadcaster software package, which starts at $5 per month.
