Sri Lanka bomb blast Death rises to 156

A bomb blast in three churches and three luxurious hotels in Colombo in Sri Lanka, 156 people were killed and at least 400 were wounded. The country’s hospital and police sources say this is the biggest attack after 10 years of civil war in the country. News Reuters, AFP, NDTV

The incident happened on Sunday, April 21 at 9 am local time. 35 foreigners are among the dead.

Local police told Reuters, that more than 50 people were killed in the church of St. Sebastian in Katuapitiya, south Colombo only.

The media said that at least 25 people were killed in an attack by the Eastern Batticaloa church. Another attack was in St. Anthony’s church in Kochchikade area of Colombo.

n addition, three luxurious hotels were attacked. But it is still not known whether any casualties have happened in the hotels. The hotels are – Shangri-La of the capital, The Cinnamon Grand and Kingsbury. Three hotels are located in the heart of Colombo.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. Although Tamil separatists have been fighting for decades in the country since 2009. The bomb blast incident in the capital Colombo was very normal at that time.

The Prime Minister called the meeting of the National Security Council at her home in Ranil Bikramasingh. He condemned this cowardly attack.

In a post on Twitter, he said, today we strongly condemn this cowardly attack on our people. During this crisis, I call on all Sri Lankans to be united and strong.

Besides, he requested to refrain from spreading any rumor without scrutiny. He said the government is taking immediate action to control the situation.

Johnan, an employee of a government hospital in Colombo, initially started treatment of eight. In a short time the number of patients continued to increase. Around 300 people have to be admitted in the hospital.

The incidents of the three incidents that took place in the church are located in Kochchikade, Katupitiya and Batticaloa in Colombo. The ceremony was being organized on Easter Sunday in these churches.
