Brazilian Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer revealed unseen elements

With the release of the second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, we finally have a good idea of what’s going on in this MCU sequel. In his latest big-screen adventure, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will face a real identity crisis as well as a slew of familiar Marvel villains.

Let’s take a deep dive into the new trailer to see what it reveals and what unanswered questions about Spidey’s return remain.

Matt Murdock, played by Charlie Cox, appears in No Way Home!

The first trailer shows Peter being arrested and taken into custody.

What happens immediately following Peter’s arrest is less clear. The first trailer also shows Peter returning to school and being met with blank stares from his classmates. The second trailer, on the other hand, skips over this material in favor of focusing on Doctor Strange and the invading villains, which we assume will be the main focus of the sequel.

The question remains that, how and who might be assisting Peter Parker in obtaining his freedom?

If the persistent rumors about Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock appearing in No Way Home are true, this is most likely where he will appear. Matt, as a lawyer with a secret, costumed life of his own, would be ideal for assisting a fellow hero in a legal situation. Another possibility is that we will get to meet Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters before she makes her debut in the upcoming She-Hulk series.

Brazilian Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer

A Brazilian version of the new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer appears to include an edited shot that could reveal previously unseen elements of the upcoming film.

As you’d expect, the new No Way Home trailer was released in multiple territories yesterday, with slight edits made across the world. That included a version posted from the official Sony Pictures Brazil account – but fans noticed that one specific shot runs a little longer than in the English language version, and potentially shows that a character has been edited out of the scene for the trailer.

Spider-Man leaps towards Lizard, Sandman, and Electro in a construction yard in the scene in question. However, as Binge-Watch This (below) points out, the Brazilian trailer lasts about a second longer and depicts Lizard being struck in the head by… something invisible.

Is the movie starring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield?

If you’ve been following the No Way Home saga for the past few years, you’ve probably heard rumors about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their respective Spider-Man roles. Even if we ignore the rumor mill entirely, it’s not a huge leap to believe that some familiar Spider-Men will be joining the fun alongside these classic villains.

There is no direct confirmation in the new trailer, but there are some telltale signs that Marvel and Sony are trying to hide some major surprises. Consider the Brazilian Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer for example.

We see Holland’s Spidey charging into battle against Sandman, Electro, and Lizard, but neither Electro nor Lizard appears to be directly attacking Spidey. We can easily believe that there are more Spider-Men in this shot that have been edited out. It would not be the first time that MCU trailer footage has been altered to hide major spoilers.

Conclusion

There’s no guarantee that Marvel and Sony are attempting to conceal a Spider-Verse collaboration here. If the Daredevil rumors are true, he could be the character being CG’d out of this footage. Nonetheless, when Doc Ock reacts to seeing Holland’s Spider-Man unmasked in the second trailer, he directly acknowledges Maguire’s Spider-Man. Ock has a connection to the other Spider-Man. Why bring it up if Maguire will not be in the film? Why bring these villains in if No Way Home isn’t going to fully embrace the Spider-Verse concept?

The moral of the story is that you shouldn’t be surprised if Holland isn’t the only actor dressed in red spandex this time around. Spidey will require a lot of assistance in dealing with this new threat, and who better to assist than more Spideys?

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to find out what’s going on, with the release date set for December 17th.
