ColorOS 12, Oppo’s next Android 12-based operating system, has been unveiled in its entirety. The new UI layer will be available on Oppo and OnePlus phones in China that have been running on ColorOS. The names of the handsets that will receive the updated version starting in October have been revealed by the smartphone manufacturer.
The updated version has a new look and increased privacy security measures. Quick View cards in ColorOS 12 can display real-time details about programs in the card window. Oppo is adding the ability to use its phones with Windows 10 or 11 laptops with the new Android skin.
ColorOS 12 adds a new ability to obtain a notification in the status bar when programs use the camera or microphone for security reasons.
Users may customize a new 3D avatar feature called Omoji in the new version. ColorOS 12 has also added new shortcuts to make operating the handset easier. This includes the ability to convert to a small window with a single click, full-screen with a double click, and the ability to drag the corners to change the size. This allows users to use one hand to better handle their smartphones. A new Smart Sidebar 2 will assist users in multitasking.
The updated version includes Oppo’s Quantum Animation Engine, which improves the software’s animations.
When will ColorOS 12 be released, and what phones will it support?
In China, ColorOS 12 will be available first for Oppo’s Find X3 Pro flagship phone, as well as the OnePlus 9 Pro 5G and OnePlus 9 5G. In November and December, the Find X2 series, Reno 6 series, and Reno 5 series will receive the upgrade, followed by older Oppo and OnePlus phones in 2022.
