Derrick Lewis, known as The Black Beast knocked out Curtis Blaydes with a massive uppercut to record his 20th career knockout in Saturday’s main event of UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas.
Lewis made a bad start in the first round. Curtis Blaydes gained confidence in the first round but made a big mistake in round two. As a result, Derrick got the chance and utilized it perfectly. He Knocked Curtis out with a massive uppercut punch.
That uppercut put Curtis down. Even after that Lewis threw two more punches until the match referee stopped him. Fans got excited and divided into two sides with the comeback of Derrick. Some fans even started to criticize him and some blamed referee for that.
Legends of the game are saying it is one of the biggest upsets
in the UFC main event since 2016. Lewis was way behind Blaydes,
and a +350 underdog, per Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill, ESPN’s odds provider.
Besides that, with that stunning blow of 12 knockouts, Lewis tied
Vitor Belfort with the most knockouts in UFC history. He also achieved the record for the second-most wins in UFC Heavyweight championship (16).
At post match conference Lewis said “That was the only punch I was waiting for the entire fight,”. “I knew he was gonna come in. … That’s all I was waiting for. I wasn’t worried about throwing a one-two, a jab or anything.”
